Initial work was performed with a 266 nm Nd:YAG laser as source for laser induced fluorescence (LIF).

In the [[http://bioprogress.se|BioProGReSs]]-project attemps were undertaken to substitute the Laser with UV LEDs. Principal changes and adaptations to the intial setup were made with a focus to assure stable long term operation in industrial environments. The device was successfully operated in the GoBiGas plant in Gothenburg, Sweden.
